Profile
Philex was established in 1982, selling spare and replacement components for video cassette recorders. In response to requests from customers, Philex diversified into audio/visual accessories, including replacement remote control handsets, shortly thereafter. Further requests from customers led to sourcing selected electricronics items, quickly expanding into a complete range of products.
Philex quickly expanded in the computer market, which resulted in exploiting its existing contacts in the Far East to source a full range of computer accessories. With our Hong Kong sourcing, procurement and quality-control office, along with manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, we began producing our own 'Select' brand of electronics accessories. Four distinct product categories established: electrical and wiring accessories, electronic (A/V) accessories, computer accessories, remote controls, amplifiers under our Labgear brand, outdoor and indoor antenna, A/V accessories and components.
Philex PLC was established as the holding company for the Group, which now comprises Philex Electronic (UK operations), Philex Hong Kong, Philex Electronic Shanghai Limited, Philex Ningbo (Antenna, Amplifier) H B Litherland (audio-visual distributor based in Blackpool) and Sound & Secure (sound, vision and security installation specialists).
